Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Game of the Year 2009 Edition

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Game of the Year 2009 Edition

Let battle commence! This, the fourth in this top series of first person shooters, breaks from tradition and has a modern day setting unlike its predecessors that harked back to World War II. Now, we're bang up to date and slap bang in the middle of a conflict between the US, UK and USSR. You can play as a US marine or a British SAS soldier and your arsenal contains such must haves as night vision goggles and an anti-tank guided missile, plus the ability to call in air strikes. The graphics are to die for, the gameplay (including multiplayer) is awesome. It's no wonder this game has scooped so many accolades since its release last year.Read More

Explosive, chaotic, and in fact idiotic as this first person shooting game will blow you away. Either battle it out against the Russian terrorists as UK marines and the USSR, or fight for your team online and see which of your friends can get the highest kill streak. Having your own air strike and helicopter at your will and various weapons to choose from, including machine guns and rocket launchers get ready to create absolute destruction. With great tech like night vision goggles and UAV so you can see the enemy without them seeing you, great perks like extra health and extra bullet damage give you a real feeling of power without having to be in an actual war zone. Voted game of the year 2009 you cannot afford to miss this. With its tremendous game play and graphics take it to the next level and be the ultimate modern warfare gamer.

I think the game is great, it has great guns and weaponry. My favourite level on multiplayer is backlot and it is the first online game, which I believe is truly awesome. All in all I strongly recommend this game and I hope they make more Call of Duties soon!

This is an excellent game with a superbly beautiful engine, I would highly recommend it to anyone, it's brilliant on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3! This game is still more popular than World at War and I can see why. Why do Call of Duty KEEP going back to the World War 2 theme? God, they have bled it dry!! Only good thing about WaW over this game is Nazi Zombies but otherwise this is better in every way - BUY IT!

Best game on Playstation 3 without any doubt. I have played this for 6 months solid, day after day and you can't get bored with it. This is an excellent game, and ten times better than Call of Duty World at War.

I have owned call of duty 4 since January, I have to say not only is it the best call of duty campaign I have ever played, but the online play takes xbox live to a whole new world, I have prestiged 10 times and still can't get enough of the game, the challenges are amazing and very rewarding, the gametypes are incredible.
I highly recommend this game to everyone with a xbox 360 and a PS3. I would love to see another call of duty produced by infinity ward it would be fantastic!

I bought this game last Christmas for the xbox 360 as there was a lot of hype surrounding it. I didn't know what to expect really as I hadn't liked the other call of duty games before but I was willing to give this one a shot!
This whole game in the story mode is following the SAS and the MARINES trying to eliminate hostile forces. Both of these sides give very heated battle scenes and also stealthy action. For instance when you're in the SAS you have been given a sniper role and everything you do effects your future game play!
The graphics are a big step up since the last one as it seems there is so much detail to the guns and to the men.
One of the best bits of the game is its online feature, you can play with up to 18 people with leader boards and challenges.
So in conclusion I would deeply recommend this game to everyone as its exciting, thrilling and most of all enjoyable.

This Is the best game I have ever played in my life and if I was anybody else or if I didn't have it, I would be getting my butt down to the nearest video game store or going online to buy it as soon as possible because if you've played it, you will know that no one would ever want to miss out on such a good game!!

If you don't have it buy it NOW!!

This game has been the top game this year without a doubt, it's great graphics enhance your gaming experience. Clearly an improvement on the much enjoyed call Of Duty 3. Although single player is very short, the online part of the game is where it has excelled. with the choice of many different game modes (approx 15!!!) along with 19 different maps. Although the one dissapointment is that when the host leaves it does mean the end of the game, this is where the developers let themselves down. Other than that this is clearly still the no.1 played game despite nearly being 12 months old.

I quite recently acquired my Playstation 3 and the first game I knew I had to buy was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Being a big fan of the earlier products on the PC, I had heard some amazing things about the game and played on it at friends, and it seemed to be the game to own.

People were not wrong. Where to begin to review? There is so many good things to say and as of yet I have only thought of one bad thing about it. So it mustn't be doing too badly then!

I'll start with the single player. The story is mostly based upon a fictional future featuring the USA, the UK and Russia who are fighting against Russian Ultranationalist's and rebels who have overthrown a Government in a small, Middle Eastern Country. You begin on a SAS training ground where you complete the basic tutorial and choose your difficulty level for the rest of the campaign. From there you jump straight into action by completing a SAS takeover on a Cargo Freighter which contains parts for a nuclear device. Soon the enemy discovers your presence on the Freighter, and sends some MiG fighter-jets to sink the boat, containing all the evidence and with you on it! You continue through the campaign, killing thousands of enemies without hesitation and with an outstanding array of weapons at your disposal.

The gameplay throughout all of the missions in the campaign mode is just marvellous. Characters move on screen without pause or glitch and the graphics are truly spectacular. Little things in the scenery like bottles or cans which scatter when you drop a grenade nearby or the occasional bird that sings it sweet song. Characters speech is almost as if you are there with them and the dubbing is very well done. You hear shouting in the background and gun shots as if you truly were there fighting the enemy.

Not only do you feel extremely pleased and satisfied when you complete single player; you are blessed with a special epilogue mission which includes a hostage takeover on a plane. You use SAS tactics to eliminate all the terrorists and then escape the plane. After the epilogue, you could replay the mission's and shoot all the enemies again, without being bored, or you could discover the ultimate Multiplayer that has won the awards for Call of Duty 4.

You start with nothing basically, a few basic weapons and a very low rank. From there you work your way up into the highest ranks and earn amazing weapons by shooting and completing objectives by competing against thousands of people from the all around the world. One minute you could be in a Team Deathmatch where you just have to kill as many people as possible and the next to could be competing in a Sabotage game, attempting to use a bomb to blow up a certain point. With 13 different types of match, and with 15 default maps, you're sure that you will be kept satisfyingly busy and entertained for your whole Call of Duty: Modern Warfare experience.

A truly fantastic game and a must for any Playstation 3 owner.
