    ****

The Dynasty Warriors franchise has been coming along nicely for the past 14 odd years, starting out life as a one-on-one beat em up, and since then has been evolving into a much more suitable beast for the storylines.

    Gameplay.
Dynasty Warriors 7 has changed drastically from the differing style of play that 6 brought us. While 6 uses the newly introduced 'Renbu' fight system which involved you leveling up the 'Renbu' bar to unlock more and more combos, Dynasty Warriors 7 brings back to something close to the original 'Charge' system, which requires you to raise characters abilities by killing officers, obtaining skill points and purchasing extra attacks using the points.

    Characters.
All of the same characters have returned again, with new, updated and in most cases better outfits ranging from Xiahou Ba's plate armour to Meng Huo's Lioncloths. Also with inclusion of extra officers for each force and with the extra inclusion of the Jin force, it creates the largest playable cast of characters in any Dynasty Warriors game.

    Maps and Missions.
Alot of the same maps were carried over from Dynasty Warriors 6, which worked well. Also the previously unplayable levels since the times of DW3 and DW4, have also made a triumphant comeback, ranging from the fire-covered castle of Wan to a newly updated Jieting. The levels have all been slightly redesigned adding to the games playability, making it remarkably better than previous games especially on map-size.

    Story Mode.
The Story Mode too has been tweaked from the previous game. Now we choose a specific force instead of individual characters, this works in a sense, but alot of characters were excluded from this mode while others are used multiple times. The cutscenes are very realistic and flow straight into battle seamlessly, although it does incur the wrath of herendous loading times occasionly.

    Conquest Mode.
A newly introduced mode, which comprises of using any unlocked character and attempting to 'conquer' China. A China that has been split into small hexagons, each holding missions which allows you to unlock more characters through character specific missions, and to unlock more powerful and even legendary weapons. This mode can become very tedious in attempting to unlock all the locked features, with alot of the maps being similar and being reused, but it has decent level of playability and allows the use of any and all characters.

    Graphics.
The graphics have been tweaked only slightly, thus is barely dis-similar to Dynasty Warriors 6. The only noteworthy difference is that the cutscenes are drastically more powerful.

    Overall.
Generally, I enjoy playing this game but I fear when I have unlocked everything and achieved all the abilities, that I may stop playing it. On the whole, it is vastly improved from its predecessor, but the lack of a free mode reduces its chances of playability.

In other words, if you are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors franchise you will love this inclusion to your library, otherwise you may want to give it a miss.
