Another year, another rally game. To say Colin McRae Rally 2005 shares a lot of similarities with the 2004 version would be something of an understatement. The look, feel and gameplay are virtually identical, but Codemasters have added a few extras that make it a worthwhile purchase.First off, and potentially the biggest new feature, is the career mode. This gives you the opportunity to race in very low level rally events and work your way up to WRC standard. Unfortunately, you have little control over your path, as there is no signing up for teams or anything like that. Instead, there is a 'tree' of events you can enter similar to that used in TOCA Race Driver. You win a series, you can move up to the next level, all the while unlocking new cars, parts, etc.This is a little unsatisfactory...
