The game itself puts your character into the midst of a post nuclear wasteland, that used to be America, simpy trying to survive the wastes. As part of a tribe that the protagonist of the first Fallout set up, you find out that you are his descendant. But not all is well...your village is suffering under the strain of background radiation, mutated cows and faltering crops.
